Long exposure photography can produce great results, exposures of several seconds or minutes can turn moving water into a blur with a mist like appearance yet still keep stationary objects in the frame pin sharp. For long exposure times in day light you will require a 10 stop neutral density filter.
River Wye. Taken today 8th March on the way back from a meeting in Chepstow 24sec Exp with 10 stop filter, the longer exposure blurs the moving water creating a dreamy appearance to the image.

I spent an enjoyable windswept day yesterday (08/09/2011) down at Hartland Quay imaging the high tide in extreme weather conations mainly the wind. The sea spray was also another factor to contend with coating the lens and filters all through the day. I caught out a few times by rain showers which drenched the camera so have ordered a rain cover for the camera today anyway here are just a few images taken.
